The power of our community

Montague Power Choice is in development! A group electricity buying program for residents and businesses, Montague Power Choice will use the purchasing power of our community to provide:

  • New electricity choices
  • Stable electricity supply prices
  • Consumer protections

More than 200 other Massachusetts cities and towns have similar programs, which are known as municipal electricity aggregations. The Town is targeting 2027 for program launch, pending state regulatory approval.

Program benefits

No interruption in service

Through Montague Power Choice, the Town will select its own electricity supplier (the company that puts electricity on the grid for us) and will lock in a long-term price for the electricity supply charge on our bills. But Eversource will remain Montague’s electric utility and will continue to handle billing, address power outages, and deliver our electricity with no interruption.

How aggregation works

The same electric bill

Montague Power Choice will be integrated into your existing Eversource electric bill, giving you a new price for your electricity supply charge. But you will not see any additional charges on your bill or receive any additional electric bills because of participating in the program.

Savings cannot be guaranteed

The Town of Montague is committed to pursuing stable and competitive prices. Savings compared with Eversource’s electricity supply prices are also possible. But because Eversource’s prices change and their future prices are not known, savings compared with Eversource can never be guaranteed.

Eversource will never knock on your door or call you to talk about your electric bill.
