Cambridge Community Electricity directly supports new renewable energy projects.

  • 100% Green provides 100% of your electricity from new renewable sources.
  • Standard Green provides 75% of your electricity from new renewable sources.
  • Economy provides the minimum amount of your electricity from renewable sources required by law.

Buying renewable energy refers to the purchase of Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs). What are RECs?

* In addition to purchasing the renewable energy shown in the table, the program’s electricity supplier is required by state law to purchase RECs from other clean or renewable sources. This purchase must match 39% of participants’ total electricity use.

** These additional RECs will be purchased from two new renewable energy projects outside of New England that are being directly supported by the program. Learn more about the program’s support for new renewable energy in other states.
