Cambridge Community Electricity benefits

Using the group buying power of our community, Cambridge Community Electricity provides Cambridge residents and businesses with:

Direct support for renewable energy projects

Cambridge Community Electricity provides direct support for new renewable energy projects locally and nationally. All participants supported the creation of a solar project at Graham and Parks Elementary School in Cambridge. Participants in Standard Green and 100% Green also helped enable the development of a new solar project in Illinois and a new wind project in North Dakota. Long-term, stable electricity supply prices with the potential to save

Cambridge Community Electricity offers long-term, stable prices for the electricity supply part of your bill with the potential to save compared with Eversource’s Basic Service prices. Since program launch, Cambridge Community Electricity participants have enjoyed protection from seasonal electricity price spikes and have saved more than $95 million compared with Eversource’s prices, though future savings cannot be guaranteed.

Three consumer-friendly options

Through Cambridge Community Electricity, you have three choices for the electricity supply part of your bill. You can automatically receive 75% of your electricity from renewable sources, or you can choose to receive 100% renewable electricity or just the minimum required by state law.

Consumer protections, like the freedom to leave at any time with no fee or penalty

Cambridge Community Electricity offers the consumer protections that come with a vetted, regulated, municipal program. Chief among them, the program has no hidden fees, and you have the freedom to opt out of, or leave, the program at any time with no fee or penalty. This feature makes the program different from many private electricity supply contracts, which may include minimum participation periods and early-termination fees.
