What happens in November 2027?

The Town intends to sign a new, long-term contract when the contract with Direct Energy expires. The Town will announce the new prices before they take effect, and your account will be automatically enrolled into the new price for your program option unless you opt out or choose a different option.

As a participant in Chelmsford Choice, your electricity supplier will be Direct Energy.
If you are eligible for a low-income discount or fuel assistance, you continue to receive that benefit as a participant in Chelmsford Choice.
If you have National Grid’s Budget Plan, it continues to apply to your whole bill.
Chelmsford Choice prices are fixed until November 2027.

Compare to National Grid

Chelmsford Choice offers long-term prices, but National Grid’s prices change seasonally. It is normal for Chelmsford’s prices to be lower than National Grid sometimes and higher at other times. The goal of Chelmsford Choice is to provide savings when compared with the average of National Grid’s changing prices.
