Can I get the heat pump rate and also participate in Framingham Community Electricity?
Yes. The heat pump rate will impact the delivery charges on the bill. Framingham Community Electricity impacts the supply charge on the bill. Participants in Framingham Community Electricity can benefit from both the heat pump rate and Framingham Community Electricity at the same time.
Do I need to use a heat pump to heat my whole house in order to get the heat pump rate?
No. The heat pump rate will apply for customers using a heat pump to heat all or part of their homes.
How do I get the new heat pump rate?
If you installed your heat pumps through Mass Save on or after January 1, 2019, you should be enrolled in the discount automatically, but we recommend you contact Eversource to confirm.
If you did not install your heat pumps through Mass Save or did so prior to 2019, you will need to apply for the discount. Eversource will make an application available on November 1 at https://eversource.com/heat-pump-rate.
Will heat pump rates received in the winter cause delivery charges to increase during other parts of the year to balance the discount?
No. The winter heat pump rate will not impact delivery charges in other parts of the year.
Will the discount for heat pump customers cause rates to increase for other customers to balance the discount?
No. The discounted heat pump rates will not cause rates for other customers to increase.
