Options & Pricing

Newton Power Choice offers three City alternatives to Eversource’s Basic Service and to other electricity supply offers in the marketplace. As a new participant in Newton Power Choice, you will be automatically enrolled in the Standard offering and receive 84% of your electricity from “premium” clean, renewable energy sources in the New England region. You also have two additional choices:

  • The 100% Green option for 100% clean, renewable electricity from “premium” sources in the New England region.
  • The Basic option for only the minimum amount of renewable electricity required by state law.

Electricity supplier: If you participate in Newton Power Choice, you will see Direct Energy listed as your electricity supplier on your Eversource electricity bill. See an example Eversource bill.

Electricity mix: The Commonwealth of Massachusetts requires that all electricity supply products include a minimum of 59.2% from renewable or clean energy resources in 2023. Newton Basic meets that minimum requirement. Newton Standard and Newton 100% Green exceed it. The program’s electricity supplier is required to provide an energy mix disclosure label that offers details about all of the sources of electricity provided. Visit the Resources page to download the most recent label.

* Prices for the Standard Offering, 100% Green, and Basic include a $0.001 /kWh administration fee. Program prices could increase as a result of a change in law that results in a direct, material increase in costs during the term of the electricity supply agreement. Program prices apply only to the electricity supply portion of your Eversource electricity bill. Delivery charges on your Eversource electricity bill are not affected by the Newton Power Choice program.

** Some large commercial accounts may not be eligible for program pricing at the time of enrollment and may instead be offered market pricing. Visit the FAQ page for more information.
