Stable electricity prices

Newton Power Choice offers long-term prices for the electricity supply part of your bill. The current prices will end in January, and the program will move to a new, 24-month contract with a price that is fixed until January 2028. In comparison, Eversource’s prices change every 6 months or less, which can expose you to seasonal spikes in electricity prices. Participating in Newton Power Choice will make your electricity supply price predictable and stable and will protect you from seasonal price spikes.

 

Potential for savings

Through Newton Power Choice, your electricity supply price may be lower than Eversource’s Basic Service price. According to a report by UMass Amherst, the majority of communities with aggregation programs do see some savings compared with Eversource’s Basic Service price. However, Newton Power Choice prices are long-term fixed prices, and Eversource’s prices change every 6 months or less. Consumer protections

As a regulated, municipal program, Newton Power Choice has been designed with consumer protections. Chief among them, the program has no hidden fees, and you have the freedom to opt out of, or leave, the program at any time with no fee or penalty. This feature makes the program different from many private electricity supply contracts, which may include minimum participation periods and early-termination fees.
