Welcome!

The City of Beverly is pleased to announce the May 2024 launch of Beverly Community Electric, a group electricity buying program from the City for residents and businesses.

Participants in Beverly Community Electric get more electricity from renewable sources for a price that is lower than National Grid’s current residential Basic Service price (though future savings cannot be guaranteed). In addition, the program provides 20 months of electricity price stability, which means protection from winter electricity price spikes.

Beverly Community Electric changes the price that National Grid uses to calculate the Supply Services portion of our electric bill, which is the part of the bill where we pay for the electricity we use. But National Grid remains our electric utility and continues delivering our electricity, sending our bills, and addressing power outages.

With the program’s launch, Beverly joins nearly 170 other Massachusetts communities that already have similar active programs.

Participate

Most Beverly electricity customers will be eligible for automatic enrollment! If you receive a notice in the mail from the City in early March, no action is required. You will automatically receive the Beverly Community Electric price beginning in May. Participation is not required, and you are free to opt out at any time with no fee or penalty.

Beverly customers with a private electricity supply contract are not eligible for automatic enrollment, but requesting enrollment is easy. Learn more.

How it works

Beverly Community Electric is a group electricity purchasing program. Participating in Beverly Community Electric will change your electricity supplier and the price National Grid uses to calculate the Supply Services charge on your electric bill, but participating will not replace National Grid as your electric utility. Make sure you’re enrolled

If you are enrolled, Beverly Community Electric will be integrated into your existing National Grid electric bill beginning in June 2024. Your supplier will appear as Beverly Community Electric-First Point Power.

Savings cannot be guaranteed

Please note that, while Beverly Community Electric prices are currently lower than National Grid’s Basic Service prices, there is no guarantee of future savings. This is because National Grid’s prices change, and future National Grid prices are unknown.

Protect your National Grid account number

National Grid will never knock on your door or call you to talk about your electric bill.
Only provide your National Grid account number if you are ready to change your electricity supplier.
