Enroll in Sharon Power Choice
|If you are a new electricity customer in Sharon and you do not sign your own contract with an electricity supplier, your account will be AUTOMATICALLY enrolled within a few months of opening, unless you chose to opt out. This automatic enrollment model is state law. If your account will be automatically enrolled, no action is required.|
You will receive a notification letter in the mail from the Town about the program prior to being automatically enrolled. The letter will include information about the program, options in the program, and prices, as well as information about how to opt out of the program if you do not wish to participate.
…are not currently enrolled and you wish to participate
Medium and large commercial accounts may not be eligible for program pricing at the time of enrollment and may instead be offered market pricing. If you are a medium or large commercial customer, please contact customer support for information about enrolling.
…have asked Eversource or National Grid to place a block on your account to prevent enrollment with electricity suppliers
The block will prevent automatic enrollment, even if you receive the notice in the mail. To participate in Sharon Power Choice, you must first ask your electric utility, National Grid or Eversource, to remove the block. Once the block has been removed, you may then request enrollment in Sharon Power Choice.
…sign a contract with an electricity supplier shortly after opening your electricity account
Your account will not be automatically enrolled, and you will not receive a notification letter. However you may choose to enroll your account in Sharon Power Choice by submitting your enrollment request online or by contacting customer support with Sharon’s program consultants.
Please note: We recommend that you carefully check the terms and conditions of your supplier agreement. Your ability to terminate your agreement with your supplier may be restricted. If you decide to enroll, be sure your current electricity supplier knows that you wish to cancel or not renew your contract with them.
…previously opted out and now wish to enroll
You may re-enroll, but please note that you may not receive the Sharon Power Choice program price. The electricity supplier is entitled to charge you a market price for the remainder of the current electricity supply contract, but you would receive the Sharon Power Choice price for any future electricity supply contracts. If the program’s electricity supplier decides to charge market pricing, you will be notified before enrollment and can decide then whether to continue with enrollment or not.
…are currently being served, or were previously served, by a competitive electricity supplier and now wish to enroll
If you are a residential or small commercial customer, you may enroll at the program price. Medium and large commercial accounts may not be eligible for program pricing at the time of enrollment and may instead be offered market pricing. If you are a medium or large commercial customer, please contact customer support for information about enrolling.
