Enroll in Sharon Power Choice
If you are a new electricity customer in Sharon and you do not sign your own contract with an electricity supplier, your account will be AUTOMATICALLY enrolled within a few months of opening, unless you chose to opt out. This automatic enrollment model is state law. If your account will be automatically enrolled, no action is required. |
You will receive a notification letter in the mail from the Town about the program prior to being automatically enrolled. The letter will include information about the program, options in the program, and prices, as well as information about how to opt out of the program if you do not wish to participate.
If you…
…have asked Eversource or National Grid to place a block on your account to prevent enrollment with electricity suppliers
The block will prevent automatic enrollment, even if you receive the notification letter. To participate in Sharon Power Choice, you must first ask your utility to remove the block. Once the block has been removed, you may then request enrollment in Sharon Power Choice.
…have signed a contract with an electricity supplier and wish to participate
Your account will not be automatically enrolled, and you will not receive a notification letter. However you may choose to enroll your account in Sharon Power Choice by submitting your account information online or by calling Sharon’s program consultants, at 1-855-854-7498.
Please note: We recommend that you carefully check the terms and conditions of your supplier agreement. Your ability to terminate your agreement with your supplier may be restricted. If you decide to enroll, be sure your current electricity supplier knows that you wish to cancel your contract with them so they do not renew your relationship with them.
If you wish to finish your contract with your electricity supplier and enroll in Sharon Power Choice later, you may do that. You will receive the Sharon Power Choice price at the time you enroll.
…opt outed and now wish to enroll
You may re-enroll, however, for any customer who previously opted out of or left the program and wishes to re-enroll, the program’s electricity supplier is entitled to charge a market price instead of the program price for the remainder of the current electricity supply contract. If the program’s electricity supplier decides to charge market pricing, you will be notified before enrollment and can decide then whether to continue with enrollment or not.
