Three consumer-friendly options

Through Chelsea Electricity Choice, you have three choices for the electricity supply part of your bill. You can automatically receive just the minimum amount of your electricity from renewable sources required by law for the lowest price in the program. You can also choose to receive 85% or 100% of your electricity from renewable sources.

 

Long-term, stable electricity supply prices

Chelsea Electricity Choice offers long-term prices for the electricity supply part of your bill. The current prices will end in June, and the program will move to a new, 30-month contract with prices that are fixed until December 2028. In comparison, Eversource’s prices change every 6 months or less, which exposes you to seasonal price spikes.

 

The potential for savings

Participating in Chelsea Electricity Choice gives you the potential for savings compared with Eversource’s Basic Service prices. According to a report by UMass Amherst, the majority of communities with aggregation programs do see some savings compared with Eversource’s prices. However, Chelsea’s prices are long-term fixed prices, and Eversource’s prices change every 6 months or less. Consumer protections, like the freedom to leave at any time with no fee or penalty

Chelsea Electricity Choice has been designed with consumer protections. Chief among them, the program has no hidden fees, and you have the freedom to opt out of, or leave, the program at any time with no fee or penalty. This feature makes the program different from many private electricity supply contracts, which may include minimum participation periods and early-termination fees.
