The power of our community

Revere Power Choice is in development! A group electricity buying program for residents and businesses, Revere Power Choice will use the purchasing power of our community to provide:

  • New electricity choices
  • Stable electricity supply prices
  • Consumer protections

Nearly 200 other Massachusetts cities and towns have similar programs, which are known as municipal electricity aggregations. The City is targeting 2025 for program launch, pending state regulatory approval.

Program benefits

Aggregation documents

Before launching the program, the City must develop an Aggregation Plan and submit it to state regulators for review and approval. An overview of the draft Aggregation Plan for Revere Power Choice was presented during the September 9 City Council meeting, and the Plan and sample Opt-Out Mailing Materials were made available for public comment from September 9 until October 9, 2024. They remain available for public review below.

In addition, hard copies of the draft Aggregation Documents are available from the Department of Planning and Community Development, 3rd/Mezzanine Floor, Revere City Hall, Revere, MA 02151.

No interruption in service

Through Revere Power Choice, the City will select its own electricity supplier (the company that puts electricity on the grid for us) and lock in a long-term price for the Electricity Supply charge on our bills. But National Grid will remain Revere’s electric utility and will continue to handle billing, address power outages, and deliver our electricity with no interruption.

How aggregation works

The same electric bill

Revere Power Choice will be integrated into your existing National Grid electric bill, giving you a new price for your Electricity Supply charge. But you will not see any additional charges on your bill or receive any additional electric bills because of participating in the program.

Savings cannot be guaranteed

The City of Revere is committed to pursuing stable and competitive prices. Savings compared with National Grid’s Basic Service prices are also possible. But because National Grid’s prices change and their future prices are not known, savings compared with National Grid can never be guaranteed.

Protect your electricity account number

National Grid will never knock on your door or call you to talk about your electric bill.
Only provide your account number if you are ready to change your electricity supplier.
