Options & Pricing
Salem PowerChoice offers three alternatives to National Grid’s Basic Service. The default program offering is PowerChoice Standard, which includes an additional 15% of your electricity from renewable energy projects in New England, over and above the minimum amount required by state law. As a new participant in Salem PowerChoice, you will be enrolled in PowerChoice Standard unless you choose one of the other options.
Electricity supplier: Salem’s current electricity supplier is Dynegy, which means Dynegy will be listed on your National Grid bill. See an example National Grid bill.
Electricity mix: The Commonwealth of Massachusetts requires that all electricity supply products include a minimum of 59.2% from renewable energy resources in 2023, including 22% from “premium” renewable energy projects in the New England region (MA Class I RECs). Basic meets this minimum requirement. Standard and Plus exceed this requirement. The program’s electricity supplier is required to provide an energy mix disclosure label that offers details about all of the sources of electricity provided. Visit the Resources page to download the most recent label.
