Stable electricity prices

Wayland Electricity Choice offers long-term prices for the electricity supply part of your bill. The current prices will end in May, and the program will move to a new, 25-month contract with a price that is fixed until June 2028. In comparison, Eversource’s prices change every 6 months or less, which can expose you to seasonal spikes in electricity prices. Participating in Wayland Electricity Choice will make your electricity supply price predictable and stable and will protect you from seasonal price spikes.

 

Potential for savings

Through Wayland Electricity Choice, your electricity supply price may be lower than Eversource’s Basic Service price. According to a report by UMass Amherst, the majority of communities with aggregation programs do see some savings compared with Eversource’s Basic Service price. However, Wayland Electricity Choice prices are long-term fixed prices, and Eversource’s prices change every 6 months or less. Consumer protections

As a regulated, municipal program, Wayland Electricity Choice has been designed with consumer protections. Chief among them, the program does not require participants to sign a contract, and you have the freedom to opt out of, or leave, the program at any time with no fee or penalty. This feature makes the program different from many private electricity supply contracts, which often include a contract with a minimum participation period and an early-termination fee.
