The Town of Weston is pleased to announce the June 2024 launch of Weston Power Choice, a group electricity buying program from the Town for residents and businesses.

Weston Power Choice is a new Town Electricity supply program that gives residents and businesses more choice and control over how we power our community while taking a big step toward achieving our sustainability goals. With the program’s launch, Weston joins over 170 other Massachusetts communities with this type of electricity program.

Participants in Weston Power Choice receive more electricity from renewable sources for a price that is lower than Eversource’s current residential Basic Service price (though future savings cannot be guaranteed). In addition, the program provides 30 months of electricity price stability, which means protection from winter electricity price spikes.

Three new, consumer-friendly options

Weston Power Choice offers three electricity choices so you can select the option that is right for you.

New participants will be automatically enrolled in Weston Power Choice Standard. Weston Power Choice Plus and Weston Power Choice Basic are available by request.

Participate

 Most Weston electricity customers will be eligible for automatic enrollment! If you receive a notice in the mail from the Town, no action is required. You will automatically receive the Weston Power Choice Standard price beginning in June. Weston customers with a private electricity supply contract are not eligible for automatic enrollment, but requesting enrollment is easy. Learn more.

Compare the cost

 Compare program prices to Eversource’s current Basic Service prices, or use the online calculator to compare Weston Power Choice prices with the most recent 12-month average of Eversource’s Basic Service prices and see the cost and greenhouse gas emissions impact of participating.

How it works

 Weston Power Choice is a group electricity purchasing program. Participating in Weston Power Choice will change your electricity supplier and the price Eversource uses to calculate the Supply charge on your electric bill, but participating will not replace Eversource as your electric utility. Make sure you’re enrolled

If you are enrolled, Weston Power Choice will be integrated into your existing Eversource electric bill beginning in June 2024. Your supplier will appear as Weston Power Choice – First Point Power.

Savings cannot be guaranteed

Please note that, while Weston Power Choice will offer the potential for savings when compared with Eversource’s Basic Service price, there is no guarantee of savings. This is because Eversource’s fixed Basic Service prices change every 6 months for residential and small business customers and every 3 months for large business customers and future Eversource prices are not known.

Protect your Eversource account number

Eversource will NEVER knock on your door or call you to talk about your electricity bill. If Eversource wishes to discuss your bill, they will do so in writing. Also, all communication about Weston Power Choice will be in writing and will bear the Town seal. Only provide your Eversource account number if you are ready to change your electricity supplier.
