Greener electricity

The Green Worcester ElectriCITY Municipal Aggregation Program automatically provides over half of your electricity supply from renewable sources. All program options exceed the state minimum requirements for renewable energy. To help stimulate the development of more clean electricity on our local grid, Worcester prioritizes buying from new renewable energy sources in the New England region.

 

Three electricity supply choices

Through the Green Worcester ElectriCITY Municipal Aggregation Program, you have three choices for the electricity supply section of your bill. You can automatically receive 67% of your electricity supply from new renewable energy sources in the New England region, or you can choose to receive 100% or 47% of your electricity supply from new renewable energy sources in the New England region.

 

Stable electricity prices

The Green Worcester ElectriCITY Municipal Aggregation Program offers long-term prices for the Supply Services section of your bill. In December 2025, the program will move to a new, 24-month contract with prices that are fixed and will not change until December 2027. In comparison, National Grid’s prices change every 6 months or less, which can expose you to seasonal spikes in electricity supply prices.

 

Consumer protections

The Green Worcester ElectriCITY Municipal Aggregation Program has been designed with consumer protections. Chief among them, the program has no hidden fees, and you have the freedom to opt out of, or leave, the program at any time with no fee or penalty. This feature makes the program different from many private electricity supply contracts, which may include minimum participation periods and early-termination fees.
